Discover Antoni Gaudí's Torre Bellesguard
The Torre Bellesguard is one of Antoni Gaudi's least well-known and fascinating works of architecture.
Gaudí constructed a castle that is half way between modernism and gothic style, on a plot which is of great historical importance, in homage to King Martin "el Humano", the last King of Barcelona's Casal Catalan dynasty, who lived in Bellesguard until he died in 1410.
The Medieval history of the plot, the remains of the monarch's palace and the historical importance of the land influenced Antoni Gaudí when he constructed it, and he believed that Bellesguard was one of his most symbolic, vocal and personal works of architecture.
Bellesguard has much more than simply Gaudí; we can see remains of the Roman civilisation, features of Kings, popes and princesses, legends and bandits, gardens full of secrets and allegories... history is alive in all its corners.
After many years of not being open to visitors, Bellesguard opened its doors to the public offering high-quality guided tours with added value.
It was named a Cultural Monument of National Interest and it is an architectural jewel in a unique location and exclusive environment.
